Using Multiple Personal Trainer Sites to SkyRocket Your Leads

What’s better than a TOP 10 listing in Google? 2 Top Ten Listings in Google. Competition is getting fierce and it’s no longer good enough to just have one site (or advertisement) appear in google’s search results.

Now of course im not suggesting that you need 3 or 4 websites, I mean it’s hard enough to deal with the one you have, right? But you should not put all of your eggs in one basket. Only bad things can happen when you rely on one website. What if your server goes down for days? (yes, it does happen) What if google just decides to drop you out of their rankings? It is a robot after-all, and guess what, when your website’s rankings fall, you can’t just pick up the phone and call the Google guys and expect them to say… We are so sorry for dropping your rankings and nearly putting you out of business, how can we make it up to you? In fact, you would be lucky if you ever even found out why.

You can protect yourself by having multiple sites or advertising on other people’s sites that have great rankings for your keywords. I have a few clients that have 3 (up to 6) of the top 10 spots for their keywords. Now, that’s an effective strategy.

The days of 10,000 dollar websites are over. Besides with blogs, and article/content sites, local listings, etc you should have no problem getting a few slots in the top 20 at-least.

Don’t wait, the sooner you start the sooner you will see the results.

    Keith,

    Great stuff, as always.

What advice do you have for people who want to expand their web presence via blogging but don’t know a lot about it and want to start using it as a marketing tool? Are there are any websites that you suggest for starters? Is there a beginner’s guide or a 10 commandment-type list that everyone should know about?

And in terms of content, how much is enough? What if you think you’ll have trouble keeping it fresh/relevant?

Lastly, Facebook seems to get incredible placement in google. How can you capitalize on that without risking your business or brand being damaged by the relatively free-wheeling nature of the site?

Keep up the good work…and for god’s sake, make an appearance every now and then!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the post. (sorry for the typos, I fixed them) That’s what I get for writing at 2am.

If you want I can put together a cheat sheet and email it to you, but here’s a 2 min crash course.

    1. Use a free blog service like wordpress or blogger.com

The reason why people are so slow to add content to their blog is that they think everything has to be award winning stuff. I suggest blogging at least 3-4 times per week. Blog about topics related to your business.

Provide content that people would be interested in, just make sure you get your keywords in there where they fit.

Another great way to get content is to create a google alert on your topic of interest. For example, I can create a google alert for hybrid cars and google will email me as frequently as I like, with news stories about hybrid cars.

    2. Cross Linking - throughout your post insert links to other relevant posts. Ex.

Chicago is known for it’s active and healthy community, beautiful parks, and great outdoor restaurants. You can also get great hotel discounts if you have flexibility in your travel plans. (link the words hotel discounts - to a blog post specifically about Hotels in Chicago)

    3. Enable your blog for Web 2.0

There are tools out there that enable people to “subscribe” to your blog, meaning they will be notified when you have updated your blog. When you are on a blog you may see little icons for DIGG, Stumble Upon, etc. (These are social networking sites that are very popular these days)

Those are the main basic concepts of a successful blog. I can give you more detailed content on this later…

As far as using Facebook, it is a great tool for networking. You can avoid any major backlashes by using an altered Identity for your company. If I had a fitness company in Chicago I would probably create a group in facebook like The Chicago Fitness Group, of course you can promote your own business and services in there but you have created a little separation.

Thanks for your contribution to the blog…

    Keith
